Bibliography of scientific papers of Croatian geometricians used at technical faculties during the 20th century

The bibliography includes the list of the scientific papers of geometricians employed as professors of the geometrical courses at technical faculties in Croatia at the end of the 19 th and during the 20 th century. They mostly taught Descriptive Geometry, an obligator course at all technical faculties because the drawing was the only graphical presentation of the future object till the appearance and the application of the computers in the 80-ies of the 20 th century.

Although the University of Zagreb was founded in 1669, the year 1874 is taken to be the year of foundation of the modern university. Then, the department of mathematics was founded, but teaching at the department started in 1876 when the Czech dr. Karel Zahradnik was named as first public professor.

The scientific interest of the geometricians of that time was focused on geometrical structures, while later it was spread out on studying of planimetrical and stereometrical relations and features by using synthetic method. Thanks to the great fan of the ''synthetic geometry'', the academician dr. Vilko Niče, the scientific work of the geometricians at technical faculties was recognized and accepted by the scientists of the similar field of interest in neighboring countries.

The aims of creating such a bibliography are:

•  Not to let the professors of the geometrical courses employed at the technical faculties in Croatia at the end of 19 th century and during the 20 th century be forgotten;

•  to enable insight in so called ''synthetic geometry'' for young scientists (therefore papers of scientists belonging to this area are available in full text) ;

•  make the papers that are published only in printed form available, because many of them are lost and hardly available

•  to extend the collaboration among scientists because faster and easier cognition and the checking of the results of the investigation using synthetic method aided with dynamic computer programs are enabled.

Since many of the scientific papers that deal with synthetic geometry are in German (large abstracts are only in Croatian), it can be expected that this bibliography will be used by foreign scientists as well, interested in this branch of geometry.

Although the scientific papers published during last years are available on Internet, we consider it necessary to include into this bibliography the papers published by the geometricians – the members of CSGG (Croatian Society for Geometry and Graphics).
