Reinforced concrete with steel reinforcement is currently the most common way of building civil engineering structures. The main disadvantages of reinforced concrete structures are their own heavy weight and corrosion of reinforcement, especially if the structure is located in an aggressive environment. That is why many scientists in the world are researching non-metallic materials such as FRP for reinforcing concrete structures. This material is resistant to corrosion and its use significantly increases the durability of structures and reduces the self-weight of load-bearing elements. In this paper, the application of FRP reinforcement for reinforcing prefabricated facade sandwich panels has been discussed. Based on different researches that have been conducted related to the application of FRP reinforcement in reinforcing concrete elements, the paper describes the basic characteristics of FRP reinforcement and shows the basics of calculation of elements stressed by bending that can be applied for dimensioning sandwich panels. Also, an overview is given on previous tests carried out on the topic of FRP reinforcement in sandwich panels and other elements, as well as on current research that needs to be carried out in order to come to the application of FRP reinforcement for reinforcing prefabricated facade sandwich panels in everyday practice.
Beton armiran čeličnom armaturom danas predstavlja najzastupljeniji način gradnje građevinskih konstrukcija. Glavne mane armiranobetonskih konstrukcija su velika vlastita težina i korozija armature pogotovo ako se konstrukcija nalazi u agresivnoj okolini. Zbog toga se mnogi znanstvenici u svijetu bave istraživanjem nemetalnih materijala kao što je FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) za armiranje betonskih konstrukcija. Ovaj materijal je otporan na koroziju i njegovom upotrebom znatno se povećava trajnost konstrukcija i smanjuje vlastita težina nosivih elemenata. U ovom radu istražena je primjena FRP armature za armiranje montažnih fasadnih sendvič panela. Na temelju različitih istraživanja koja su provedena vezana uz primjenu FRP armature kod armiranja betonskih elemenata u radu su opisane osnovne karakteristike FRP armature i prikazane su osnove proračuna elemenata naprezanih na savijanje koje se mogu primijeniti za dimenzioniranje sendvič panela. Također, dan je osvrt na dosadašnja ispitivanja provedena na temu FRP armature kod sendvič panela i drugih elemenata, kao i na danja istraživanja koja je potrebno provesti kako bi došlo do primjene FRP armature za armiranje montažnih fasadnih sendvič panela u svakodnevnoj praksi.
